Environmental/ Safety
Catalytic gas-fired infrared ovens and infrared heating systems
are cost-efficient, and environmentally preferable to conventional
heating methods. The only by-products of the catalytic reaction are water
vapor and carbon dioxide; the catalytic infrared process is virtually free of
NOx and CO. Natural gas is less costly than electricity in most regions, too.
Flameless, low-intensity infrared energy heats objects, rather than air,
so fuel efficiency is highest and worker safety is greatest.
Operation is simple and straightforward: natural gas or propane contacts
oxygen in the air in the presence of a catalyst. The chemical interaction
generates heat and reduces the gas to harmless carbon dioxide and
water vapor. There is no flame, because the reaction occurs at a
temperature below the ignition temperature of gas.
Also:
• Catalytic long to medium wave length IR is more readily
absorbed than shorter wavelength infrared.
• The Catalytic infrared wavelength spectrum matches the
absorption spectrum of coatings and water.
• Operation is virtually maintenance-free. Infrared ovens and heaters
have no moving parts, and there are no bulbs or tubes to replace.
• The catalytic infrared heaters provide uniform distribution of heat.
• Infrared oven and heating systems can be precisely zoned
to meet specific processing requirements.
• The infrared oven catalyst is not consumed during operation,
so catalytic infrared heaters deliver a long service life.
