Case Study #5:
Catalytic Infrared Oven Reduces Powder Cure,
Facilitates Shop Growth.

Streator Limited manufactures lawn and garden equipment using metal
tube stock. Products ranging from garden carts to cultivators then receive
a powder coating before being palletized for sale to retail outlets including
Sears and Farm & Fleet.
To optimize the cure of the powder coating, Streator purchased a catalytic
infrared powder coating cure oven from CIS. The catalytic infrared oven has
12 heating modules, each 2’ wide, in a 23’ oven enclosure The modular
system design permits easy expansion later if needed.
In developing a system design, Streator provided a sample of each production
part, along with the (Diamond-Vogel) paint formulations used. Catalytic
engineered the infrared oven to meet these specific cure requirements.
Powder coating cure times have been reduced from a day or longer to
10 minutes. Freeing up space resources and powder coating capacity has
allowed Streator to pursue additional manufacturing projects.
