Technologies Overview

Catalytic Industrial Systems manufactures flameless gas catalytic
infrared ovens, ramp-up ovens and portable heating systems that
are energy-efficient, and highly cost-effective.

For more than a half century, we have provided OEMs, Tier 1s
and job shops with custom-engineered solutions that meet their
goals for quality, throughput, uptime performance, and economy.

We specialize in these 8 system types:

Powder Paint Curing
Solvent / Water-based Paint Curing
Powder Gel Ovens / Ramp-up Ovens
Dry-off Ovens
Adhesive Curing
Ink Drying
Pallet Shrink Tunnels for Packaging
Silkscreen Drying

Catalytic Industrial engineers highest quality ovens and
process heating systems using our field-proven gas catalytic infrared
and convection technologies. We specialize in custom-designed systems
that meet individual customer requirements for cycle time,
or equipment footprint.

We often engineer “combination” systems to provide the most efficient
heating solution. Catalytic ramp-up ovens for powder coating for instance,
use catalytic infrared technology to increase the product’s surface
temperature, and preheat the powder coating to a gel state, prior to
full convection cure. This can provide several advantages, including:

  • A  shorter total cure cycle, and therefore faster line speed
  • Higher consistency of cured finish
  • Lower total energy use
  • Prevention of cross-contamination where multiple color
    powders are applied in succession

Powder ramp-up ovens (sometimes called “booster” ovens or
“gel” ovens) are compatible with virtually all powder coatings.

These ramp-up ovens are an excellent alternative for manufacturers of
metal and plastic parts, also wood products and medium density fiberboard.
When used to cure powders on MDF, ramp-up ovens contribute to a
better overall result because ramp-up ovens heat only the powder and
the MDF surface, and expose the product to less total heat energy.

Catalytic systems range from portable infrared heaters and manually-
operated batch ovens to programmable, in-line infrared and convection
systems for high-throughput, “24/7” manufacturing. We can engineer
multiple-zone systems to meet specific process objectives.

Catalytic enjoys a strong working partnership with leading
manufacturers of industrial coatings.  Our extensive R&D capabilities
give us the capability to test, under production conditions, the cure
performance of any new or reformulated powder coating, or liquid finish.
As a result, our technical team is often called upon when powder
coating manufacturers are developing new coating chemistries,
and want to prove them in a laboratory environment that can
replicate the line speeds and other parameters of a production
shop, and precisely document the results. Visit our engineering
and testing
page for more.

Catalytic gas-fired infrared heating systems and ramp-up ovens have
a long history of dependable service. They are designed for maximum
energy-efficiency, and low maintenance. Where needed, our in-house
Control Engineering Group can interface our infrared heating systems
with plant-wide controls, and material handling up and downstream.

If a new infrared heating system, convection oven or ramp-up oven is
in your plans, or if you want to discuss options for the retrofit and upgrade
of your existing infrared heating system or convection oven, email us now.
With 50+ years experience in virtually every industry sector, we can
recommend the process heating solution that best meets your needs.

Catalytic Infrared Heating Systems are ATEX approved.
